Sydney, Australia- Day 2

I can’t get over how beautiful it is here… I have been enjoying my time here so much, and it’s only been two days!

Starbucks
Decided to stop by Starbucks for a quick bite to eat in the morning. I noticed that the Venti iced cups were not as tall as the US and a tall frappucino costs about $6.50 AUD. Unbelievable! But how cute are these dolls…?

The Rocks
After breakfast, I headed over to The Rocks for some shopping. Every weekend, there are markets with local vendors. What made this trip even better was we ran into Stan Kasten & family here! Stan noticed us first & we had a fun conversation about Bondi Beach & Puig.

Government House & Botanical Gardens
Just a few blocks from our hotel were the beautiful gardens & government house.

MLB Opening Series- Sydney Cricket Grounds
Finally, the day has come! This game was pretty packed with MLB fans from all over! It was great to see the Australian natives enjoy the game of baseball!

Sydney, Australia – Day 1

After a 15 hour flight, I made it to Sydney!
I started the sightseeing as soon as I could. Here are some highlights from my first day in Sydney!

Darling Harbour
Beautiful harbour with a mall, lots of restaurants, and the zoo/aquarium/museums.

Lunch: Momofuku Seibo
Decided to eat lunch at David Chang’s Momofuku in Sydney. Lunch consisted of 10 courses and I was so excited. However, this meal was very underwhelming…not as good as I thought.

Momofuku Menu

The highlight of this day (possibly trip) was meeting the players! We happened to be eating lunch at The Star Hotel, which is where the players were all staying. As they got out of the bus, I got to meet the players. At one point, because I was so star struck when seeing Kershaw and Ethier, I couldn’t take a picture of approach them. However, I was lucky enough to meet a fewDodgers! What a great start to my trip =)

Sydney Harbour Bridge & Opera House
It was a beautiful day to take a stroll around the harbour.

Mc Donald’s
Ended our day eating at Micky D’s. Ordered the Chicken Schniztel Sandwich & the Mc Spicy. First of all, why are the meals so expensive here? It cost about $8 AUD for a meal. The schnitzel reminded me of a chicken katsu. The McSpicy was way too spicy.

Stay tuned for day 2!

Sweepstakes

A few months ago, I discovered the greatest sweepstakes. The Dodgers will be playing their season opener in Australia this year, so I thought I’d test my luck and enter for a chance to win!

And guess who won…??

ME!!!! Can’t believe it to this day…

My sister and I will be going to Sydney, Australia mid-March to enjoy the Dodgers season opener! Free roundtrip airfare, hotel stay near the Opera House, and 2 platinum level tickets to the first game of the season.

I’ve been trying to plan places to visit and eat while in Sydney…and there’s so much I would like to do. What are some recommendations?

Extras in Seattle

Smith
This was a very cute and quiet bar.

The Can Can
A restaurant/burlesque show. Food and show were both not that good.

Had an interesting and strange experience here…

Knee High Stocking Co
This place is so small, but so cute. Need to ring the doorbell to enter.

Theo Chocolate Factory Tour
So interesting and learned a lot about chocolate and the process of making chocolate. So many samples!  Theo is the first and only fair trade and organic chocolate company. It can be found at Whole Foods- and I highly recommend the milk chocolate/salted almond chocolate bar.

Seattle Bites

Loved the food in Seattle… Some pictures to get you hungry.

Pike Place

My friends & I decided to take a tour of the Pike Place Market called the Seattle Bites Tour. It was a very helpful and informative tour of the Market, its food, and its history. Since we stayed near the Pike Place Market, we spent a lot of time roaming around this huge area!

Seattle

Downtown Seattle

During my winter break, two friends and I decided to take a 5 day vacation to the rainy city of Seattle. After spending less than a week in this gloomy state, I noticed a few things…

1. People are so friendly and nice.

2. Loved the transportation system. It was very easy to learn.

3. I liked that many places were within walking distance.

4. Locals don’t use umbrellas.

5. Starbucks on every block. (Learned that there are 180 Starbucks in a 5 mile radius- including the water)

6. The tax rate is higher than California.

7. Plastic bags are not provided at most stores.
